Port Royal Sub Action
A lone SD40-2 and Caboose passes Coosaw, SC enroute to Yemassee after a layover at Port Royal, SC. The Train would often return empty to Yemassee. Today there are penty of cars to pick up before heading west back to Augusta. Yemassee was a big interchange point at one time. It is early January, 1985 and soon the line will be the property of the SC Ports Authority. The line will continue to operate until November 2003 when the Port is shut down. Sadly, the trackage was removed late in 2010. The SAL once crossed here at Coosaw as well. All that remains today are a few Signal bases. It is a "Ghost Railroad Crossing" now. Sorry for the poor quality of the Photo.
