Port Royal Sub Action
Port Royal-Augusta Local Train arrives at Yemassee, SC and will head west to Augusta after picking up some Cars. It is Summer, 1984 and SBD has posted a notice of their intent to abandon the Branch to Port Royal. I have been documenting as many Trains as possible. At this time, I do not know that the Railroad is being sold. Service would continue with the SC Ports Authority. The Train is about to cross one of three Diamonds here in Yemassee. They would be removed in less than a year as they would no longer be needed. The Local will still operate from Augusta, but will begin running north to Charleston. The heavy SD40-2 was somewhat unusual on the Branch, as the Rail was light. But I saw an SD45 on the line one time as well.
